Penn State Law Review (PSLR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity in our publishing process. We therefore expect our editors, authors, and publishers to adhere to the following standards.
I. Editors
Editors are expected to maintain the professionalism and prestige of PSLR. Editors will additionally uphold PSLR’s ethical standards. The duties of PSLR editors include, but are not limited to:
- Selecting original, relevant, and interesting Articles and Comments of the highest academic quality possible.
- Evaluating Articles and Comments based on objective criteria. Objective criteria that editors use may include relevance, importance, writing style, and contribution to the legal community. An editor will recuse themselves from the selection process if the editor is unable to objectively evaluate the quality of an author’s work for any reason, such as substantial bias or otherwise.
- Maintaining, as far as reasonably possible, timely and open communication with authors throughout the entire publication process to assist the author in publishing a high-quality Article or Comment.
- Upholding PSLR’s standards of confidentiality. The PSLR editorial staff will not discuss the content of an Article or Comment with anyone other than the author of the Article or Comment, other PSLR editors, staff, faculty advisors, and the publisher.
- Ensuring compliance with PSLR’s commitment to ethical publication standards by other editors, staff, and any other person who may be associated with PSLR.

II. Authors
Authors who wish to publish with PSLR are expected to submit original work. The author is additionally expected to:
- Be mindful and open to comments and suggestions made by editors during the publication process.
- Acknowledge and, as far as reasonably possible, incorporate feedback from editors during the publication process, including, but not limited to, stylistic edits and edits to citations.
