Washington & Lee’s Law Journal Rankings Project released the 2012 results on February 15, 2013, recognizing both the Penn State Law Review and Penn Statim. According to W&L’s website, the purpose of the rankings is to “give scholars a resource to locate law journals by subject, country or publication, or ranking (where available), to display journal editorial information, and to facilitate an author’s article submission to those journals.”
We are pleased to announce that the Penn State Law Review ranked 114 out of 1,685 legal journals (including peer reviewed, student-edited, and specialized journals) and 67 out of 243 student-edited main law reviews. Notably, Washington & Lee ranked our online companion – Penn Statim – for the first time. Penn Statim ranked fourth overall compared to other online-only journals featuring general content and edited by students, based on combined scores (impact-factor plus total cites). The top ten journals were as follows:
1. Northwestern University Law Review Colloquy (2006–)
2. The Yale Law Journal Online (2005–)
3. Harvard Law Review Forum (2005–)
4. Penn State Law Review Penn Statim (2010–)
5. Vanderbilt Law Review En Banc (2008–)
6. Virginia Law Review In Brief (2007–)
7. Columbia Law Review Sidebar (2007–)
8. University of Pennsylvania Law Review PENNumbra (2006–)
9. Michigan Law Review First Impressions (2006–)
10. Cardozo Law Review De Novo (2009–)
We are very proud of this accomplishment and are confident that the Penn Statim will help improve accessibility and readership of our Law Review. We would also like to acknowledge that this ranking is a reflection of the 2011-2012 Penn State Law Review editorial board’s diligence and professionalism.
